"I'd tried reading the Bible so many times and always gave up somewhere around Leviticus. With this journal I made it all the way to Revelation. My copy is covered in my own scribbles now, and I LOVE that."

✦ What One Page Shows You

There's a book in the Biblewhere God's name never appears.

Esther is ten chapters long, and God isn't named in any of them.

It's the story of a Jewish orphan who becomes queen of Persia, and of Haman, the most powerful official at the king's court, who gets a decree passed to wipe out every Jew in the land. Haman has a gallows built, fifty cubits high, for Esther's cousin Mordecai. He plans to ask the king for Mordecai's death first thing in the morning.

That night, the king couldn't sleep.

On that night could not the king sleep. Esther 6:1

So he had the royal records read to him, and heard how Mordecai had once uncovered a plot to kill him and was never rewarded. Just then, Haman walked into the court to ask for Mordecai's death. The king asked him what should be done for a man the king wanted to honor. Haman assumed he meant himself.

He meant Mordecai. Haman ended up leading Mordecai through the city on the king's own horse, announcing his honor. A chapter later, Haman was hanged on the gallows he had built.

Everything in Esther turns on small things: a king who couldn't sleep, a record book read aloud, and a man who walked in at exactly the wrong moment.

    ✦ Here's the best part

That moment is printed right on the Esther page.

    HIGHLIGHTED ON THE PAGE
    Main Theme
“Esther is one of only two books in the Bible that does not mention the name of God, yet His fingerprints are unmistakable on every page.”
    Key Verse · Esther 6:1
“On that night could not the king sleep.”God works through details no one would ever notice.
    Key Life Lesson
God Is Always Working Behind the Scenes.

And Esther isn't the only one. Every one of the 66 spreads has lines like these:

    Jonah · Main Theme

“Jonah is ultimately more about God's heart than about a great fish.”

    Jonah 4:2 · Key Verse

“Jonah resented the very mercy that had rescued him.”

    Leviticus 17:11 · Key Verse

“Atonement always costs a life, and God Himself provides it.”

Genesis · Structure of the Book

“God turns evil into good to save many.”

Then the page turns to you. What stood out to you most? Which verse hit hardest, and why? What will you carry into your own life? And at the bottom of the Esther page, a prayer is waiting:

    The Prayer for Esther

“Lord, You are at work even when I cannot see Your name written anywhere in my circumstances. Give me courage to do the right thing today, and trust to leave the outcome with You.”

Moments like these have been in the Bible all along.

Now every book has a page that points them out, and a page for what they mean to you.

    Frequently asked questions:

I've never really read the Bible. Is this going to be over my head?

No. Every book gets its own page first, laying out what it's about, who wrote it, when, and what to take from it, all in plain English before you read a word of the book itself. You're not expected to turn up knowing anything.

Do I have to start at Genesis?

No, and plenty of people shouldn't. The books run in order, but each one stands on its own, so you can start wherever you like. The tracker at the front holds all sixty-six spines and you tick them off in whatever order you finish them.

I've bought journals before and never filled them in. Why would this be different?

Because you're never handed a blank page. Every entry asks you the same nine things: what stood out, which verse hit hardest, why it did, the people, the events, and what you're going to do about it. The prayer at the bottom is already written for you. There's nothing to decide, and deciding is usually where people stop.

    How long does it take?

That's up to you. A book a week gets you through in a bit over a year. Take two years over it and nothing is lost, because there are no dates printed anywhere in it. Put it down for a month and you pick up exactly where you stopped.

Do I need my own Bible as well?

Not particularly. The journal can work with whatever Bible you got, and gives you the overview of each book, the key verses and the space to write; your Bible gives you the text if you want to go deeper.

    How long does shipping take?
